MY CREATOR JOURNEY

how an uber driver from lagos became an invited speaker atHavard business school

I wasn’t born into the life of freedom I enjoy today.

I had to fight for it, pushing through struggles, failures, and lessons along the way.

Let me take you back to where it all began.

I grew up in Lagos, Nigeria, and I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit.

In primary school (Grade 1), I started my first small hustle, buying candy packs and reselling them to my classmates for a bit of profit.

That early spark of business followed me through high school and university, where I tried various ventures to make money for myself.

Most of them failed.

That early spark of business followed me through high school and university, where I tried various ventures to make money for myself.

Most of them failed.

I studied Estate Management at the university, but my true lessons came from real-life experiences.

My first major failure was launching an events company in my second year, despite being an introvert with no real interest in partying.

Needless to say, it flopped.

My second big failure was a restaurant selling macaroni pasta on campus, which collapsed after just seven months.

Each setback taught me something valuable, shaping the person I am today.

After graduating, I was determined to earn a living on my own terms.

in 2017, I took aLeap of faithAnd started posting on youTube

I knew nothing about filming, editing, or growing a channel.

All I had was a smartphone and a mini tripod.

Determined to figure it out, I spent hundreds of hours watching YouTube tutorials, experimenting, and learning through trial and error.

After months of struggling, I finally cracked a simple, repeatable strategy that changed everything.

I discovered my passion for travel and began using my phone to document and share my experiences.

That strategy didn’t just help me reach 1,000 subscribers.

It led to building a thriving community of over 1 million YouTube subscribers, earning hundreds of thousands of dollars, and finally walking away from my Uber driving job for good.

With the income I generated from YouTube, I could buy a passport worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, granting me the freedom to live and travel anywhere in the world.

WANT TO LEARN FROM ME?

After cracking the code to YouTube growth, it didn’t just transform my channel.

It led to the creation of the YouTube Creator Academy.

At first, I tested my strategy with a small group of creators, and when I saw it worked, I knew I had to share it with more people.

And recently, I was honored to be invited as a speaker at Harvard Business School.
